About the event

A Fungal Horror Film from the director of Godzilla!

In this 1963 Japanese frightener, radiation from a nuclear explosion has caused fungi to become mutagenic so that they change humans who consume them into mushrooms. Based on William Hope Hodgson’s short story The Voice In The Night, the film follows a yacht and its passengers that capsize during a ferocious storm. The survivors become stranded on a deserted island. After eating mushrooms found growing on the island some of the group become infected and start turning into monstrous mushroom creatures.

Audience participation will be encouraged at appropriate moments during the film!

The screening will be preceded by a Fascinating Fungi Facts trivia quiz and there will be a prize for the Funkiest Fungi Fashion statement of the evening.

Fungi Finger Food will be available for purchase and the Nourished Sovereign coffee cart will be there to serve hot drinks with or without the addition of mushrooms.
